Wilma M. Richardson Johnson

Mrs.Wilma Marie Richardson- Johnson was born to the parentage of Elbert Richardson, Sr. and Jessie Harris on August 25, 1926. Shen found the Lord Jesus at an early age. She attended the CB Dansby public schools. She was raised in Kilgore by Mrs. Hattie Douglas. She was married to the late Johnnie V Johnson Sr and out of that union eight children were born. Mrs. Johnson received her Cosmetology certification and became a full time hairstylist. She attended Kilgore College and later transferred to Stephen F. Austin State University receiving her Bachelor degree majoring in Education. Mrs. Johnson became a member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. Mrs. Johnson taught in Kilgore ISD for many years and was the first African American female to teacher at Pinetree ISD. After retiring from the school system, Mrs Johnson went on to become a successful entrepreneur opening several child care centers.

Mrs. Johnson was a member and devoted Missionary at The Greater Saints Chapel Church of God in Christ. She joined Greater Hope Temple under the leadership of Pastor Pervis Johnson in 2000. She was later appointed the position of Mother of the Church. Mrs. Johnson served faithfully until the Lord called her home. She conducted numerous outside revivals. She was preceded in death by her husband Johnnie V Johnson, Sr and their three sons: Johnnie V Johnson, Jr.(Myrtle), Van Johnson(Verna), Kenneth Johnson(Margaret) and two grandchildren Guiaus Elder and Michelle Cooper. She was preceded in death by two sister Mrs.Glodine Pittman and Mrs. Mable Abercrombie. She leaves to cherish her life and memories Patricia Johnson Stallworth(Al), Sandy Elder(Elder James Elder), Superintendent Pervis L Johnson(Sharlie), Esther D Jones, and Janice White. She leaves 20 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson. She also leaves four sisters and one brother, along with a host of cousins, friends, and other family members. Mrs. Johnson will be loved and cherished by her family.
