A Time to be Born

On February 5, 1964 Sylvester Conrod Jr. was born in Belzoni, Mississippi to Sylvester Conrod Sr. and the late Doris Jean Robinson-Conrod.

A Time to Learn

As a teenager Sylvester confessed his life to Christ and was baptized as a member of the First United Baptist Church ​of Indianola, MS. He attended Gentry High School where he was dedicated to playing basketball, football, baseball, and track. He furthered his education on a full ride basketball scholarship and went on to graduate from Kilgore College in 1984 with an Associates Degree.  He continued his education at Sul Ross University in West Texas. He later moved back to East Texas where he united with the Macedonia Baptist Church of Kilgore. After attending college he moved to Austin, TX where he worked as a BMC for Dell Computers. He later relocated back to East Texas and united with Post Oak Baptist Church of Kilgore where he served as President of the Brotherhood, took part in driving the Sunday School Van, and served on the Usher Board.

A Time to Serve

On his journey through life he discovered his God given purpose with his many hats he wore. This launched him into another realm operating in his passions doing it with great humility. Sylvester worked as a Day Program Group Leader for Breckenridge Village of Tyler, TX where he dedicated 5 years of services. His responsibilities consisted of caring for individuals with intellectual development disabilities.

A very special experience in Sylvester’s life was when he wasofficiating. He served loyally with TASO –Texas Athletic Sports Officials. He took great pride in his career as a football referee and baseball umpire. He held memberships with East Texas Football & Basketball Officials Association and East Texas Baptist Usher’s Association.

A Time to Spread His Wings

He is preceded in death by his mother Doris Jean Robinson-Conrod, sister Janice Conrod, brother Christopher Conrod, and niece Crystal Conrod.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his father; Sylvester Conrod Sr. four children; Sobrina Pratt, La’Doris Conrod, Sylvester Conrod III, known to us all as Trey, and Crystal Conrod.  He played an important role in the lives of Gavin Samples (Brittely) and Gabrielle Samples-Aldridge (Caleb). grandchildren: Alexis (Ajay), Krystalin, and Kaitlyn. siblings; Dorothy Lee Robinson, DoLores Ann Conrod-Brown (Sherman), Sylvia L. Conrod, Anthony Conrod (Felica), Vanessa Kay Conrod-Price (Ulysses), Gregory Dewayne Conrod, and Jennifer Monique Conrod-Anderson (Eric).

A host of special nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.  Some very special friends in Sylvester’s life are Jimmie Dennis, George Berry, and Victor Dunn.
