Shirley Ann Vanmeter

Mrs. Shirley Ann Hammers Vanmeter
was born December 27, 1954 to Vernie and Orean Morris in Mt. Pleasant, Texas. She was the fifth out of six children and was a twin.
She attended Mt. Pleasant ISD. She met and married Mr. Leroy Hammers on February 9, 1974 and to this union three children were born: Robert William Hammers, Wanda Gail Hammers, and Auther Lee Hammers. Later in life she met and married Mr. Joe Thomas Vanmeter Jr.
Over the years Mrs. Vanmeter accomplished many things in her life such as receiving her GED, working with the crisis center in Tyler, TX, receiving her CDL license, and working as a care provider for the elderly until she became disabled in 2009.
After becoming disabled Mrs. Vanmeter did what she loved the most, remodeling her home and yard and spending time with her husband and all her family.
In March of 2023, Mrs. Vanmeter was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. Although, she fought her hardest the Lord called her home on November 6, 2023 at 8:32 A.M.
She is preceded in death by her father and mother, her twin sister Susie Ann Miller, brother Lesley Morris and brother Wesley Newman.
She is survived by her husband Joe Thomas Vanmeter Jr. her children Robert William Hammers, Wanda Gail Hammers, Auther Lee Hammers, sister Frances Shaw, brother Robert Morris, grandchildren Katie, Adriana, Quintan, Kylie, Haden, Juila, Layla, Hunter, Paisley, and Callie; Great-grandchildren Jaxon and Finley.
