Samuel Davis Jr.

Samuel Sanders Davis was born May 11 in Kilgore, Texas.  He was the third born to Deacon Sam Davis and Deaconess Veola Sanders Davis.  At a young age, Samuel united with the Fredonia Baptist Church in Kilgore, Texas.  His formal education was received from the elementary, intermediate and high schools in Kilgore, Texas.  He graduated from C. B. Dansby High School in Kilgore, Texas in 1957.  He later began his career at Yellow Freight Lines in Dallas, Texas in 1971 and ended with his retirement in 1997.

Samuel Sanders Davis departed this life on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at his residence in the Fredonia community.  He was welcomed into his eternal home in glory by his parents, Deacon Sam and Deaconess Veola Sanders Davis, and his eldest sister, Delores Davis Mumphrey.  Samuel leaves to cherish his memory, one son, Marquis Herndon; three sisters, Deacon Ambassador Mary Davis Wilson, Bette Davis Hill, and Velma Davis Ray; grand-children and many other relatives and friends .
