Ruth Annie Mosley Kennedy
Ruth, the second child born to the late Stacy T. Mosley and Lucy Victoria Whitmill was born on August 5, 1920, in Smith County, Tyler, Texas.
She became a member of Chapel Hill Church of God in Christ, Tyler, Texas about the age of six years, and was baptized at about the age of ten years. Served as pianist and organist for this church and several others for many years.
She attended Chapel Hill Two Teacher School on the Jamestown Road in 1926, and elementary and high school at Jackson Industrial High School from 1927-1938. She graduated as valedictorian of the class, received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Texas College in 1944 with a major in Romance languages (Spanish, French, and English), and a Master of Education Degree from Texas College, Tyler, Texas in 1959. She did post graduate work at Bishop College, Marshall, Texas, Stephen F. Austin University, Nacogdoches, Texas, and Prairie View College. She received a Diploma in Music from U S School of Music, New York, 1968, Master Art Diploma from International Correspondence Schools of Scranton, Pennsylvania in 1986, Natural Health Consultant Diploma, and a Physical Therapy Aide Diploma.
Her experiences included: one year of teaching high school English and mathematics at Douglas High School, thirteen years at Douglas Elementary, Tyler, Texas, six and a half years as Principal of Dunbar Elementary School, Winona, Texas, one and a half year as a special reading teacher, one year as first grade teacher, two years as third grade teacher at Chapel Hill Elementary School, also pre-K for four summers at Chapel Hill Tyler, Texas. This makes a total of thirty-eight years of service before retiring plus substituting and one year of teaching in a private school, private music teacher, and painting pictures for churches.
Affiliations: Member of Texas State Teachers Association, National Teachers Association, and life member of Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary.
She united in Holy Matrimony to Fleming Lorenzo Kennedy, Jr. in July 21, 1944 in Fort Worth, Texas. To this union two children were born: Herbert Lorenzo Kennedy and Barbara Ruth Kennedy-Krajca.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, seven sisters, and two brothers.
She leaves to cherish her memories to her two children, one brother Mr. Stacy T. Mosley, three grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, and a host of great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
