Mother Ora Pollard was born on August 4th, 1931 in the Steber Grove Community of Kilgore, Texas to the late Roosevelt and Luvena Smith. She departed this life on Saturday, January 2nd, 2016 at 8:00am.
She attended school in the New Hope and Steber Grove Community and later became a successful business woman in the city of Kilgore.
At an early age, she attended St. John Baptist Church of Kilgore, Texas. She later united with Ebenezer Apostolic Church of Henderson, Texas where she was baptized in the name of Jesus and filled with the Holy Ghost. At Ebenezer, she helped manage the church finances and was an active member of the church choir. She will always be remembered for her award winning sweet potato pie and for singing the song, Just a little More Faith. After the passing of her late husband, Curtis Pollard, she remained in Henderson for over 25 years until her son, Alan Pollard, completed school. She then relocated to Liberty City where she became the Mother of True Saints Church of the Living God under the leadership of Bishop P.D Austin.
Mother Pollard was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Mary Mapps, and her sons Isaac Mitchell and A.V Sibley.
She leaves to cherish her memories her sisters Willie Mae Williams of Kilgore; Margine Smith of San Francisco; Lula Mae Decker of Longview; her daughters Ida Austin of Kilgore; Mable Streets of Kilgore; and Diffen Samples of Dallas; her sons Butler Sibley of Kilgore; Harvey Smith of Kilgore; and Alan Pollard of Henderson; 25 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren and other relatives.Visits: 0
