Ora Jean Atkins

On Wednesday July 27, 2022 Ora J. Warren Atkins passed away peacefully at home 77 years old. Ora Jean was born
April 6, 1945 in Winona, TX to the late Frank and Ora Bell Warren, she was the fifth of 11 children . She attended
Dunbar and Jackson High School. Ora joined Mt. Zion CME at an early age, where she served as treasurer for 12 years and the pianist for over 50 years, remaining faithful until she was unable to attend anymore She adored her grandchildren, and loved her family, church and church members. "Ora Jean" or "Plinney" (as she was affectionately called) enjoyed cooking decorating watching her game and christian T. V. shows. Ora, loved to go shopping, as you knew her she dressed fashionable and coordinated from head to foot. She was
well known for the beautiful hats she wore. Ora J. had a heart of gold always giving and expecting nothing in return. She loved her husband P.A. who stood right by her side as well as her daughter Candy and her grandchildren. She had a way to make you think you could sing, her famous words were, you can do it! On June 16, 1959 she united in Holy Matrimony to Perfi Atkins and to this union five children was born. She
was proceeded in death by 3 Sons: Nickie D. Fernando Cortez and SSGT Anthony Deraine Atkins, One Daughter: Lacheke Grandberry, her parents 3 brothers and
two sisters. Those remaing to cherish her memories are her loving Husband of 63 years Rev. Perfit Atkins of Winona
Daughter: Delancy Newsom of Winona. Grandchildren: Devanier Horton of Winona, De'Shair Newsom of Liberty
City, Jasmine Atkins of Tampa Florida, Kiara Atkins of San Antonio and Erica Shedenhelm. 7 great Grandchildren
Robert Ross, Zavannah Ross, De'Auncey Myrick . Jayden Townlin, M'Kyiah and Michael Horton Jr. Cortez A. Barron
Brother: Robert Warren(Malissa) Winona TX Sisters: Linda Heard (Alvin) Winona, Barbara Ford (Willie) Phyllis Taylor (Larry) Brenda Ford (Dwan) all of Tyler TX.
Nephews. Nieces and a host of familv and friends.
