Mrs. Bernice Harvey was born on October 14, 1929 in Karnack, Texas to the last Allen Davis Jr. and Cuettar Taylor. She attended Karnack schools and was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church in Leigh, Texas where she remained a member until she moved to Kilgore. Mrs. Harvey was united in marriage to the late Alvin Harvey Sr. They made their home in the Pirtle community where she remained until her death. Mrs. Harvey found her calling as a provider of love and care of extraordinary children at Kilgore Heights Special Education Department. Her compassionate heart and giving spirit were a constant help to kids who loved her dearly. She worked there until her failing health prevented her form doing what she loved - making those babies smile. Left to cherish her beloved memories are her brother, J.B.Davis of Fort Worth; her eleven children - daughters: Betty Hollins of Marshall, Barbara Harvey of Kilgore, Patricia Harvey of Dallas, India Harvey of Kilgore, Ina Hilburn and husband Gerald of Kilgore, Rosiland Jefferson and husband Timothy of Longview, Mary Geaty and husband Charles and Tonnie Zachery and her husband James both of Kilgore; sons: Alvin Harvey Jr. and wive Pamela of Longview, Albert Harvey and wife Patricia of Kilgore and Darell Harvey of Dallas; twenty-four grandchildren; thirty-four great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren. Because of her heart of gold, she also leaves a host of other relatives and friends to cherish her memory.
