Mellie Lewis

Mellie Lewis was born December 5, 1921 to the late Charlie & Eunice Richardson Lewis in Gregg County, Texas.She was preceded in death by her parents and four older siblings; Bessie Strong, Mary Lee Strong, Willie Mae Sherrow and Otis Lewis.A unique point of divine emphasis about the life journey of the children of Charlie & Eunice Lewis is that they all were born two years apart and they all died in the order in which they were born.Mellie is the last sibling and her home going closes out this generation of a beautiful, blessed family of the Lord.Mellie and her Mother, Eunice, are the only two the Lord allowed to live past the age of sixty years before expiring. Two of her sisters married two cousins in the Strong family, thereby uniting the Strong and the Lewis families together forever.Mellie grew up in the Mason Spring area near Hallsville, Texas.She joined church in that area at an early age later her family joined with the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, Kilgore, Texas.She moved from the East Texas area after graduating from high school and made her home in East Cleveland, Ohio, where she remained until she answered the call of the Lord to rest her body from her later years of sickness and affliction and take her to a new home with Him on October, 13, 2011.Mellie was a fun loving person. She accepted Christ in her life in her latter years. She enjoyed life. Her gift of hearty laughter and generosity was infectious.Since she had no children, her nieces, nephews, their children & children of close friends were like her children to her and she showered them with love whenever she could.She will be missed by all who loved her.
