Marsha Grant Powe

Miss Marsha Gail Grant was born on September 5, 1959 to the late Jo Ann Grant and the late Gus Kennedy.

She received her education at Overton Elementary and High School. She was a graduate with the class of 1977. She loved sports, her family, and never met a stranger. She joined Zion Baptist Church at an early age. She worked in the health care field for many years. She loved her children so much that she would do anything for them and other people outside her family as well.

Marsha gained her wings on January 18, 2020 at Longview Regional Hospital.

Marsha was preceded in death by her mother Jo Ann Grant, father Gus Kennedy, stepsister Tina Kennedy, step grandfather Jeff Smith, grandmother Mattie D. Smith, aunt Ernestine Turner, aunt Dorothy Nell Coats, and a nephew that she raised like her own Christopher Grant.

Early in life she joined Henry Sanders in Holy Matrimony and had three surviving children: Shanika Grant-Davis (Mike) of Augusta, GA, Michael Grant, and Corydario Grant both of Overton, TX. Later on, she joined in Holy Matrimony with Walter Powe and they had two surviving children: Christopher Powe and Shacolby Powe both of Kilgore, TX. Marsha also cherished her memories to her siblings; Vickie (Bernard) Wilson of Longview, TX, Debra Grant of Tyler, TX, Jackie (Shay) Grant of Longview, TX, Melvin (Rita) Grant of Arp, TX, Tyrone (Lakeshia) Grant of Henderson, TX and Bobby Grant of Kilgore, TX. Stepsisters Cathy Kennedy of Longview, TX, Sandra Jackson of Longview, TX, and Patricia Harvey of Kilgore, TX. Twelve grandchildren, one great-grandson, aunts, uncles, numerous great nephews and nieces. She also had a lot of special friends that she would call upon when needed.
