Margaret “Mae Mae” Wheat passed peacefully from this life the evening of Friday, January 24, 2020, after a gradual decline in her health. She was surrounded and supported by her loving family and caregivers during the last days of her life.
Margaret was bor n October 14, 1926 , in Laird Hill , TX to John and Re a vie Mayberry, who both preceded her in death. Margaret spent most o f her life in Laird Hill. She later united in marriage to Shelton Wheat who also preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were sisters, Bobbie Taylor, Jessie Mae Henson, Ruby (Tankie) Samples, Mabel (Ninny) White, Carrie (Di) Jones, Mary (Jo) Hendrix, Dorothy Sheffield; brothers Charlie Mayberry and John Henry Mayberry, Jr, and great-great grandson Cole Moore.
Margaret spent most of her life in Laird Hill. Her interests included canning fresh vegetables and making pickles to share with her friends and family.
She will be remember ed as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and cousin, affectionately called Nanny by her grandchildren and Aunt Mae Mae by her nieces and nephews .
Margaret is survived by three daughters, Betty Sanders, Ft. Worth, TX; Tommie (Johnny)Mumphrey, Kilgore, TX; Ruth Hazel (Michael) Cook, Houston, Tx; eleven grandchildren, Ricchi (Troy ) Simpson, Houston, TX; Cec i lio (Arsanda Wilson) Sanders, Ft. Worth, TX; Frederico (Lahoma) Sanders, Jacksonville, TX; Ramona (Charlton) Bivins, Jonesboro, GA; Pamela (JD)Ford, Winona, TX; Anita Gonzalez, Valley, AL; Johnny (Nikita) Mumphrey, Jr, Longview, TX; Adrian (Angelia ) Mumphrey, Kilgore, TX ; Timothy (Michelle) Cook, Charity (Melvin )Smart, Andrea (Billy) Piper, all of Houston, TX and Isaac Dion (Kimberly) Cook, Dublin, CA; twenty-nine great-grandchildren, nine great-great grandchildren , a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
