Jesse D. Hampton

Mr. Jesse D. Hampton was born on May 15, 1941 in Smith County. He was the oldest of two children born to J.D. Hampton and Myrtle Mauldin Hampton.

He attended school at Dunbar Elementary School and Jackson High School in Smith County. Later in life he married Darlene Spencer. He departed this life on January 27, 2022 in the early morning hours.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and his wife Darlene.

Left to mourn his passing is one daughter Shella McCarty (Bishop Michael); grandchildren Elder Justin McCarty (Tawana), Amber Richardson (Jerard), Mike Adams (LaSandra), Carla Washington (Kerry); great-grandchildren, Jayla McCarty, Jiara McCarty, Braquan Moye, Janiya McCarty, Amir Richardson, Ariee Richardson,  JaKerian and Niya Washington, Mike and Mark Adams; sister Effie Janet Hampton Jackson (Rev. Byron Jackson Sr.); niece Annette Marie Jackson; nephews Mitchell F. Jackson, Byron Jackson Jr. (Elizabeth), Joseph A. Jackson (Everlyn); sister-in-law Barbara A. Lawson (Rev. Rickey Lawson). A host of other relatives and friends.
