Jerry Lee Mumphrey was the second son of five children born to the parentage of Robert Lee Mumphrey and Lois Bailey Mumphrey in Longview, Texas. At an early age, he attended Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, and in his later years joined Mt. Carmel Baptist Church of Dallas, Texas.
He attended North Chapel School in Kilgore, Texas. On April 9, 1977, Jerry married Deborah White and to this union, two children were born Braylon and Leangie. January 21, 2012, he married Geneva Mumphrey of Dallas, Texas. Jerry was a jack of all trades, a mechanic, school bus driver, and he would later retire from the city of Dallas, Texas after fifteen years of working in the street department. Jerry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend.
He was preceded in death by his parents Robert Lee Mumphrey and Lois Marie Mumphrey, and brother Frank Mumphrey.
He is survived by his lovely wife of ten years Geneva Mumphrey of Dallas Texas, son Braylon (Tamica), two daughters Bonnie Jean, and Leangie Mumphrey. One stepson Charles Jordan of Dallas Texas. Three grandchildren Brayana Mumphrey, Davieon Morris, and Ma’Kieya Morris. One brother Johnny Ray Mumphrey (JoAnn), Two sisters Annie Lois Yarbrough and Annie Ruth Roberson (Nathan). Brother laws: Donnell Burks and Dewayne Burks. Sister laws: Joyce Wood and Jeana Cornelius Aunts: Army Jean Woodard and Madeline Robertson (James). Uncle: Paul Bailey (Edwina). A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whom he loved dearly.
