Funeral services for Mr. Jeremiah Fortson 80, of Dallas, TX. formerly of Kilgore, TX. will be held Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church with Pastor Tomas Jones, Jr. officiating, burial will follow at Claude Fortson Memorial Cemetery, Kilgore, TX. under the direction of Cunningham Funeral Home. He was born July 25, 1929 to the parentage of Claude and Joyce Palmer Fortson in Kilgore, TX. He died April 3, 2010. He attended North Chapel School in Kilgore, TX. He was baptized at an early age and later became a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church. He was in the Military for many years and then returned to Kilgore. He met and married Alma Jean Cotton and to that union, one child was born. He worked for Weinberg Man Shop before moving to Dallas, TX. He met and married Mary Alice in 1956. He then worked for Coffee Time Service and finally worked at J,C. Penney, where he retired. He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Joyce, wife, Mary Alice, two sisters, Jessie Warren and Ina Bell Fortson, one brother, C.D. Forston, Sr., and a daughter, Ella Beatrice Russell. He leaves to mourn two sisters, Marion Fortson Strong, and Beadie Pentecost of Kilgore, TX., two brothers, Calvin Fortson, Sr., (Katherine) and Bobby Fortson (Lora) of Kilgore, TX., one sister-in-law, Maxine Fortson of Kilgore, TX. three daughters, Carolyn D. Hamilton of Garland, TX., Wanda Olds of Dallas, TX., Cynthia Parker of Dallas, TX., one son, William Olds (Quenetta) of Arlington, TX., 15 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
