James "Shorty" Ross was born September 12, 1947 to the late Leroy and Carrie (Loyd) Ross in Kilgore, TX.

Mr. Ross attended C.B. Dansby Schools where he was an outstanding athlete. He served in the United States Army and National Guard.

He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Gerlene Ross, Robert Lee Ross, Ella Ruth Ross, and Debra Nobles.

He is survived by: wife Anita Rossum Ross; two daughter's Latanya Ross and Kinda Ross Lilly; two sister's Billy Lucus and Barbara Fitch Daniels; four brother's Charles Ross, John L. Ross, Leroy Ross Jr. and Eddie L. Fitch; two grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
