Heron Samples Jr.

Heron Samples, Jr was born December 12, 1948 in Gregg County, Texas to the late Heron Sr and Libby Warren Samples.

He accepted Christ at an early age and attended Mt. Pleasant C.M.E.
Church in Kilgore, TX.  Heron later became an active member of St Luke
Community United Methodist Church Dallas, TX until his health started
to fail him.

Heron graduated from North Chapel High School in Kilgore, TX. After
graduation he married Gerry Strong and later in life he met and united
in holy matrimony on October 28, 1978 to Carolyn Edmond Samples.

Heron had a passion for being a fashion cutter, auto mechanic and the
restoration and finishing of vintage/old cars and he loved to fish.

He is proceeded in death by his parents Heron Samples Sr and Libby Warren Samples, one brother John K. Samples, two sisters Juliette Mayfield and Libby Reddic, and one daughter Jackye Mariah Samples.

Heron leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted wife of 43 years, Carolyn L. Samples; son Tyrone L. ( Heather) Samples of Lancaster TX, son Andre L. Samples of Dallas TX, one daughter Deitrich L. Samples of Frisco TX; three sisters Helen (Floyd) Ferguson of Dallas TX, Vorice (John Earl) Henson of Houston TX and Gloria (Melvin) Golden of Mesquite TX; one special sister-in-law Vera Ellison and one special brother-in-law Rev. Alvin Mayfield;  5 grandchildren Deijerra, Marquise, Tyjon, Jordan and Julian
(U S Army); 5 great grandchildren Dejon, Paul Jr, Jaice, Major and Makhi as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
