Franklin D. Slaughter

November 9, 1941 — May 28, 2022

Franklin Delano Slaughter was born on November 09, 1941, to the parentage of Ruth Lockhart Slaughter and Frank Slaughter in Kilgore, Texas.

Franklin at an early age accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior at Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Kilgore, Texas. When residing in Dallas, Texas during his younger adulthood he became a faithful member and servant at Greater Ideal Baptist Church and later moved to St John Baptist Church, and served as a Deacon a t both congregations. Af ter his retirement from Dallas ISD Franklin returned to his beloved hometown of Kilgore, uniting with Galilee Baptist Church in Longview, Texas until his departure from life.

Franklin attended and graduated from the North Chapel Schools in Kilgore, Texa s. Af ter graduation he pursued an education at Prairie View A&M University receiving a Bachelo r of Education in Industrial Arts. Next, he attended North Texas State in Denton, where he completed a Master of Science in Education. He served on the board and held the position of President of the North Chapel schools for all attendees in the district over the years . He also enjoyed traveling to national monuments in his RV, fishing, camping, and attending Homecoming games at his Alma Mater, Prairie View A&M University. Franklin had a specialized gift and love for building wooden cars, clocks and was an accomplished wood crafts man.

He was married in Holy Matrimony to Easter Clemmiestine Holt on March 28, 1964, in Kilgore. To this union of 58 years, two sons were born , Franklin Duane and Derek Wayne.

Franklin started his career in Industrial Education at Wichita Falls ISD and then transition to Texas Instrument for 2 years. Afterwards , he became an Industrial Arts and Math teacher with Dallas ISD, as well as a driver for Dallas County School bus transportation. Franklin retired after serving 35 years in education . After moving back to Kilgore at the age of 61 in 2002, h e acquired a position with Kilgore ISD Bus Services and retired at the age of 76.

Preceding him in de ath were his Mother Ruth Lockhart Slaughter , Father Frank Slaughter ; Sisters Aria Ferguson Moore, Ressye Slaughter Gray , and brother Alex Julius Slaughter.

He leaves to cherish his memories ; his wife, Easter C . Slaughter ; his sons, Franklin Duane Slaughter (Debra) and Derek Wayne Slaughter ; Grandson, Franklin Duane Slaughter, Jr. (Craniesia); Great Grandson, Franklin Duane Slaughter, III; special nieces Ruth Cranford (Alexander), Renee Scott, and CaSaundra Holt-Henderson (Travarious); a host of family , and frien d s.
