Floyd Andrew Ferguson

October 28, 1935 — October 11, 2012

Floyd was born October 29, 1935 in Kilgore, TX. His parents were Taylor and Sallie Ferguson. They nurtured and trained him with Christ centered values as a child.

He was the only son and youngest of three children. His sisters, Ruby and Emma loved him without condition from
the time they were children laughing and playing up to and including death. Following his parents teachings Floyd
became a member of Harmony Pirtle Baptist Church where he was baptized and accepted Christ as his personal Lord
and Savior.

Floyd grew up in the New London community and attended school in the Kilgore public school system, graduating
from Dansby High School. He was then accepted into Prairie View A & M College where he graduated with honors.

While in high school Floyd met the love of his life, the former Helen Jean Samples. They married on July 18, 1957
and later moved to Dallas where he taught High School in the Dallas Independent School system. Floyd and Helen
had four children; Sheila, Floyd Jr., Tywanna, and Corey. Shortly after starting their family Floyd began designing
and building custom furniture and cabinets (which soon became the second love of his life).

He was a quiet man with a surprising sense of humor. He lived an honorable and dignified life. He was best known
for the way he loved his bride and his family.

On October 11, 2012, Floyd went home to be with the Lord. His father, mother, and sister (Ruby) preceded him in
death.

He leaves behind an honorable legacy in his wife of fifty-five years, Mrs. Helen Ferguson; daughter, Sheila (Roderick)
Lee; son, Floyd Jr. (Benita) Ferguson; daughter, Tywanna Ferguson; son, Corey Ferguson; eight grandchildren, Fer-
nando, Rosheeda, Dario, Ashford, Bryan, Justin, Jason, and Kayla; eleven (soon to be twelve) great grandchildren;
one sister; Emma (John) Woodard of Sacramento, California; and a host of other relatives and friends.
