Earnestine Colbert

Earnestine was affectionately known as "Earnie" and "Big Momma" to all who love her dearly, was born February 15, 1938 in Rusk County to Gid and Lomer Dudley Smith. Earnestine retired from Kilgore Independent School District after 30 years of employment. She enjoyed daily activities with family, friends, and gardening projects. She was a faithful member of St. John Baptist Church (Steber Grove Community) and served in several capacities until her demise. A dear and devoted friend for nearly 50 years, Mrs. Jo Maxwell and her family loved "Earnie" immensely. Her special bond with the Maxwell family is beyond words and she will be missed tremendously. "Big Momma" was the most active, loving, patient, and giving woman. She always welcomed others with open arms and a beautiful smile. She is preceded in death by her parents; son Charles G. Smith, brother Charles Smith; sisters Verneitta Hamilton, Emma Louise Sibley, and Margaret Pierce. Survivors include her daughter, Vickie J. Faggett of Kilgore, TX; 5 grandchildren; Kitina Coleman of Kilgore, TX., Jason Colbert and wife Jennifer of Tampa, FL., Shannon Polk of Kilgore, TX., Demorres Howard of Kilgore, TX., and Keisha Weathersby of Dallas, TX. 16 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandson. Brothers; Rommie and wife LaQuincia Smith of Kilgore, TX; Raymond and wife MaryAnn Smith of Marshall, TX., numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
