David Courtney Handy was born April 24,1974 in Gladewater, TX to the parentage of Freddie James Handy and Agnes McGee-Handy. He attended Gladewater ISD schools. He earned his certification in Culinary Arts and enjoyed cooking and grilling for his family. He was a member of Pirtle Apostolic Church in Kilgore, TX and later attended worship services at The Word Church (COGIC) also in Kilgore, TX. He was an employee of Three D Plastics in Gladewater, TX., Closure Systems International, and Skeeter Boats Inc. in Kilgore, TX.
David had a “larger than life” personality and loved his family tremendously. He loved his nieces and nephews as if they were his own children and was affectionately known as Uncle Dave. David had a generous heart and would always go above and beyond to help anyone in need. He loved joking with his family and friends and could put a smile on anyone’s face even in the most serious of circumstances. David made a huge impact in the lives of so many people and his presence will be greatly missed.
David was preceded in death by his father, Freddie Handy; brother, Michael Handy; sister, Naomi Handy; nephews, J.D. Robinson and Joseph Handy; and nieces, Sharell Powe and Dianna Powe. He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Agnes Handy of Kilgore, TX; brothers James Handy
