Darlene Hampton was born on March 7, 1943 to the late Florence Fortson and Millard Spencer. She departed this life on Sunday, March 10, 2019 at Trinity Mother Frances in Tyler, TX.
She attended North Chapel Schools. At an early age she joined Mt. Calvary Baptist Church and later joined Full Gospel Holy Temple. She joined and was a faithful member of Word of Truth Tabernacle until her passing.
She worked for Joann Grooms and later retired from Southside Bank Tyler, TX. She was affectionately referred to as Mama Darlene, Doll, or as her husband called her his “darling, darling Darlene”. She cared more for others than herself.
She was reunited with and married her longtime sweetheart Jesse D. Hampton in 2007.
She was preceded in death by her father who raised her Anton Fortson, brother Herbert Spencer, and sister Linda Dudley.
She leaves to cherish her memory to her loving husband Jesse Hampton; one daughter Shella McCarty (Bishop Michael); one sister Bobby Lawson (Reverend Ricky); sister-in-law Jeanette Jackson (Rev. Byron), sister-in-law Bobbie Spencer, and brother-in-law Billy Dudley; grandchildren Elder Justin McCarty (Tawana), Amber Richardson (Jerard), Mike Adams (LaSandra), Carla Washington (Kerry); great-grandchildren, Jayla McCarty, Jiara McCarty, Braquan Moye, Janiya McCarty, Amir Richardson, JaKerian and Niya Washington, Mike and Mark Adams. A host of aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Special friends: Christine Camp, Shaunie Ramsey, Sherrie Tillman, Opal Harris, and Ollie Gipson.
