He was born May 22, 1916 to the parentage of Tom and Lillian Sanders in Rusk County. He attended New Hope Community School. He united with and became a member of New Hope Baptist Church. Later in life he was baptized in Jesus's name and received the Holy Spirit and became a member of Pirtle Apostolic Church where he served faithfully as a Deacon and drummer. He also attended Prince of Peace of Kilgore and Bethel Temple of Longview. Upon his death he was a member of Bethany Word of Life Tabernacle, Tyler, TX. Under the Pastoral-ship of Elder Edward Sanders. He was a faithful member until his health failed. He was married to Hattie Mae Roberson for 38 years. He was a very kind hearted person who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He would spend long evenings and nights hunting squirrels, coons, and opossums. He also enjoyed raising horses and dogs. He retired from Waukesha Pierce Industrial in 1981 after serving 35 years of employment where he never missed a day. He was preceded in death by his wife, four brothers, Odis Sanders, Arthur Sanders, Willie Sanders, Leon Sanders, adopted brother I.D. Hutchins, three sisters, Bertha Taylor, Emma Coby, and Odell Harris. He leaves to cherish his memories, three children, Troy L. Sanders (Daisy), Joanne E. Lee, and Edward Sanders (Chris), eight grandchildren, nineteen great- grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, one sister O.L Jenkins, two sister-in-laws, Lola Sanders, and Evelyn Sanders of Kilgore, one brother-in-law Aubrey Harris of San Francisco, CA., and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
