Cordie Lee "Babe" Fannin-Jones

December 18, 1917 — February 12, 2012

Cordie Lee Fannin-Jones was born December 19,1917 to the parentage of Corley and Devaska-Whaley-Fannin in Muddy Creek, Texas. On Sunday, February 12,2012 at 11:25am Cordie was called home to be with the Lord.
In earlier years Cordie attended Dunbar Elementary School where she played basketball and participated in the double dutch jump rope team; performing at half times of the games. She was a wonderful singer. She was a seamstress, a hairdresser, and a great cook. She was also known for her skills in canning her fabulous plum and pear jellies and preserves. She had a great take-charge personality and could work any crossword puzzle to completion without the use of a dictionary. Her children remember her building a real playhouse and turning a baby carriage into a go cart. She was a no nonsense person but with a heart full of love. Her grandchildren remember spending summers in the country and their granny cooking and making the house full of laughter and joy. She taught them to finish anything they started. She spoke with authority and meant what she said.
She was a member of Tranquil Baptist Church for many years. She resided in Shreveport, Louisiana for a time before moving back home to Winnsboro, Texas where she resided until her demise.
Cordie, also known as "Babe and Ms.Coy Lee" was a highly intelligent woman. She loved the Lord and loved her sense of humor and continued her optimism. She made people laugh and was loved by old and young.
She was preceded in death by "most everyone", she would say, as most friends had gone on before her. Her parents Corley Fannin and Devaska Whaley-Fannin; stepmother Katie Fannin; 2 daughters Peggy and Patricia; grandson's Kenneth Wayne Rodgers, Kevin Dewayne White, Alfred Eugene Walker, and sister Willie Mae Calhoun (and a number of her children).
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters; Loyce "Lois", Jonell, Linda (Ocie), Tommie "Toni" (Cornelius- now deceased), and Eddie. Eighteen grandchildren, a host of great and great-great grandchildren; her sisters and brothers; Betty, DeRosa, Helen, Martha, Ruth, Edwin, Robert, and a host of additional friends and family.
