Charles Augustus Williams

Charles Augustus Williams was born July 25, 1930 to the late John and Lear Thurmond Williams in Rusk County, Texas. Having lost his mother shortly after birth, he was lovingly raised by his maternal grandparents, the late Charles and Alice Thurmond. He grew up in the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. He later met and married Sarah Ann Poston. No children were born to this union, however, many were blessed through their kind and giving spirits. During his adult life he resided in Houston, TX. and California. After living away for many years, "Buster", as he was affectionally nicknamed as a child, and Sarah had numerous leisure and travel plans for their retirement, but the Lord had another. Shortly after her retirement, He called her home. On Friday morning, October 16, 2009, Buster quietly and peacefully departed this earthly life to go and be with his heavenly Father. In addition to his wife, parents, and grandparents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Eratus Williams and Laurence Williams and two sisters, Florence Garland and Maxine Maddox. He is survived by seven sisters, Crezzeta Thurmond of Kilgore, TX, Marian Johnson of Henderson, TX, Helen Jones of Dallas, TX, Ernestine Smith of Dallas, TX, Gary Sue Arnwine of Carson, CA., Wanda Robinson of Henderson, TX., Alice Fay Williams of Inglewood, CA.; two brothers, Calvin Williams of Kilgore, TX. and Johnny Lee Williams of Washington, D.C. Left to be comforted by the Holy Spirit are his maternal aunt, Alma Garrett and a number of cousins, nieces, nephews,other relatives and friends.
