Pete was born in Pittsburg, Texas, June 23, 1940 to the late Reed and Annie Bell Thomas.
He united with Union Chapel Baptist Church at a very early age. He received his education at Union Chapel School and graduated from Fredrick Douglass High School with the class of 1959. He was called to the ministry and pastored at the St. Mark Baptist Church, Como Tx., and Independent Hope Baptist Church.
Pete worked at Lone Star Steel for over thirty years until he retired.He served the National Alumni Association as Chaplin for over twenty years and President of the Pittsburg Chapter Frederick Douglass Alumni Associationfor over fifteen years. Past President of the Camp County Ministerial Alliance.Coached "Boots and Saddle"and "Pete's Angels" softball teams.
Pete married the love of his life, Frances Morgan, September 5, 1959 (over57 yrs) and to their union eight children were born.
He is preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters, Reed Thomas Jr., Lincoln, Annie Lou, andVerna Faye Rush,Mildred Rush Giles, Robert Thomas Sr., andHamp A. Thomas.
He leaves to cherish his memories to his loving wife, Frances Morgan Thomas, their eight children; Jonathan Thomas (Sylvia) Pearland, TX.; Derek (Denine) Thomas, Rowlett, TX., Troy (Cynthia) Thomas Rowlett, TX., Vic (Chandra) Thomas, Pittsburg, Tx., Valerie (Curtis) Byrd, Cedar Hill, TX., Freda (Ricky) Jones, Rowlett, TX.,Connie (Algie) Armstead, Manvel, TX., andVeronica (Richard) White, Rowlett, TX. Also, Monty Strong, Dallas, TX., Andrea (Thoms)Brown, Terrell, TX., Stacey Bates,Mesquite, TX. Clutarus Johnson, Le'LorieRogers, Jared Rogers, Pittsburg, TX.,NicholasThomas-Smith, Missouri; Honorary daughter Trinee Scott Moore (Terrance); his brothers; Louis Rush and William F. Rush. A host of grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
