Carrie Ross, affectionately known as Susie was born on July 30th, 1927, to the late John Lyod Lomie Reddic Loyd.
At early age, Carrie became a faithful servant of God and was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. She continued to serve faithfully at New Birth Fellowship church, her church home, until her health failed.
Carrie was educated at Kilgore Colored High School. She worked at a local nursing home for 30 years as a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) until her retirement.
She was married to Leroy Ross, who preceded her in death. To this union eight children were born. The following three children preceded her in death Gerlene Ross, Robert Lee Ross Dewberry and Ella Ruth Ross. The surviving children from this union are Billie Ross Lucas (Charlie) of Kansas City MO, James Ross (June), Charles Ross, John Ross and Leroy Ross, Jnr, affectionately known as Pencil.
Carrie later married Artigas Fitch, who preceded her in death. To their union three children born - Debra Fitch Nobles, Eddie Fitch, and Barbara Lynn Fitch Daniels (Ronald) affectionately known as Hammer.
She leaves to cherish her memory 20 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and a host of loving relatives and devoted friends, among them Janice Woods Puryear of St. Louis, MO who was called her other daughter.
Carrie Susie Ross will be forever remembered as a loving, kind and generous lady who will be missed by her neighbors and community.
