Bobbie Ann Lawson

December 6, 1946 — January 31, 2025

Bobbie Ann Fortson was born on December 6, 1946, in Kilgore, Texas, to Anton and Florence Fortson. At a young age, Bobbie Ann dedicated her life to Christ and joined the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church family.  She sang in the church choir for several decades.  Bobbie Ann was a devoted child of God, her faith guiding her every step and inspiring those around her with her kindness and compassion.

Bobbie Ann’s commitment to others was evident in every aspect of her life. She dedicated over 25 years to serving the students and staff of Sabine Independent School District, leaving a lasting impact on generations of children. Her unwavering dedication, paired with her big heart and kind spirit, touched countless lives. Whether she was offering a listening ear, a word of encouragement, or lending a helping hand, Bobbie Ann was a true role model to those fortunate enough to know her.

Her love for her family and community, and her faith in God, were the cornerstones of her life. Bobbie Ann’s legacy of service, love, and faith will continue to inspire all who knew her. She was not only a beloved member of her family, but a cherished figure in the lives of many, and her impact will be felt for years to come.

Bobbie Ann was preceded in death by her father, Anton Fortson; mother, Florence Fortson; brother, Herbert Spencer, Sr; sister, Linda Faye Dudley; sister, Darlene Hampton; and nephew, Herbert Spencer, Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 42 years, Rickey Lawson; daughter, Pamela Rowe; bonus daughter, LaRicksha Booker; grandson, Brandon Wilburn; granddaughters, Ashley Gadson and Lauryn Pouncy; great-granddaughter, Taresha Hayes; special niece, Shella McCarty (Bishop Michael); nieces, Neva (Willie) Young, Darlene Fullbright, Kajuana Ramirez; nephews, Brodric Dudley (Rachel), Marqueta (Kay) Spencer, LaJohn Spencer; special friends, Gail Wilson and Teresa Dudley; and a host of relatives and friends.
