On Wednesday, 67 years ago, on the 7th day of March, the late Jimmy Charles Butler and Irene (Rena) Goodacre welcomed a beautiful ray of sunshine, Mrs. Barbara Alice Butler. She would be reared in the Overton Texas area. She attended Overton Colored School and would receive a Master's in Education of Life Lessons.
She worked many years in the manufacturing industry at Anderson Hickey, Baker Tank, and Trane Technologies until she was injured on the job. She also worked for many years running nightclubs and preparing food in their kitchen. Later, she would go on to become the business owner of Barbara’s Fish Market in Overton, Tx.
As a child Barbara attended Scott's Memorial CME Church, then grew up and joined El Bethel Baptist Church. In her later years she joined Spring Chapel CME Church where she worked faithful in the Lord’s house as an Usher and Pastor’s Aide until her health failed.
Barbara’s greatest task in life was raising several children. God saw she was a willing vessel that He could trust to rear children. Barbara and her life partner Marcilous Tyiska of 27 years would raise and influence many children in the community. Later in life she married Herman Kelly where they together would continue her passion and love for caring for Children.
She was proceeded in death by her Parents, one child: Tre’Marcus Tyiska, and brother John Martin.
Barbara leaves to cherish her memories husband of 15 years Herman Kelly. Sons: Manuel Dennis, Marquel Dennis/grandson (Alesia), Kenyana Medlock, Geno Barger (Patricia), Calvin Barger (Debra), Charlie Brager, Tristian Kelly, daughters: Minister Cathy Medlock, Kendal Medlock (granddaughter) Tymekia Harris (Wayne), and Pamela Smith. Siblings: Ray Butler (Sharon), Kenneth Butler, Valerie Butler (Gary), Julia Marie Cameron, and Betty Jean Hollis. 31 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, special friend Minnie Stephens, family friend Augusta Morgan and a host of nephews, nieces, cousin, and friends.
