Anton Fortson

Anton Fortson was born August 8, 1919 to the late Robert Fortson, Sr. and Eliza Wallace Fortson. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert Jr., Julius, and J.T. and two sisters, Minnie Rowe and Bertha Johnson. At an early age, he joined the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, where he attended faithfully until poor health prevailed. He was educated in the schools of Kilgore and served 5 years in the U.S. Army. He retired from Sabine Pipe & Supply in 1982 after many years of service. He was united in marriage to Florence Roberson on April 19, 1946. One daughter, Linda Fortson Dudley, and one son, Herbert Spencer, Sr., preceded him in death. Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 63 years, Florence Fortson; two daughters Bobbie Ann Lawson and her husband Rev. Ricky Lawson, Darlene Hampton and her husband Jessie D. Hampton; son-in-law Billy Dudley; daughter-in-law Bobbie Spencer; two sisters, Lola Mae Bass and Ever Lee Henry; grandchildren,great-grandchildren,great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
