Annie Mae Smith was born May 11, 1940 to the late Calvin and Florence Herndon Clayton in the Oakwood Community. She attended Oakwood and Troup Schools.
She confessed Christ an early age, she was a member of Mt. Rose Baptist Church Troup, TX; upon moving to Kilgore she became a member of Kilgore Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. T.E. George, whereshe remained a faithful member, singing in the Sr. Choir for many years and serving asa member of the Willing Workers Circle. She worked for The Mitchell, Bolt, and Gipson Families, KISD, Jones Funeral Home, and Cunningham Funeral Home.She passed away October 6, 2016 in Longview.She was preceded in death by her parents,husband James Smith,brothers Willie Gene Clayton, Billie Clayton,sisters Charlene Williams, Gerelene Clayton, children Annie Marie Lawler, Arthur James Manning, Mary Ellen Manning, nephew Gavin Clayton.She leaves to cherish her memories; children Curly Manning Sr. (Mildred), Wilma Manning, Regina Bush (James), James Smith; grandchildren Curly Manning Jr., April Lawler, Yamika Smith, Kadijah Bush, Shakeitha Green, Kameron Hawkins; great-grandchildren Kordayvian Jackson, Jacovan Jackson, Keyandrae Nelson, Ja'Darrion Nelson, Ja'Kayden Morgan, brothers A.C.
