Alverdia Queen was born in Kilgore, TX. on March 14, 1924 to William and Adelaide Thomas Brittain. She attended Post Oak School and was taught by her father, Professor Brittain. Alverdia was a tireless servant, teacher, mentor, and friend to many in the community. Recognized for service to her community: Faithful member and Secretary of Post Oak Baptist Church Volunteer at Kilgore Crisis Center Volunteer Meals on Wheels Bible and Sunday School Teacher Alverdia always saw to the well being of others, she was very giving and kind, always ready to render aid to those less fortunate. She enjoyed feeding and sharing with others. Her heart was always open. Alverdia was a loving mother to her son, Anthony Queen, and a loving sister to seven siblings, all who preceded her in death. She is survived by dozens of nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. Alverdia was loved by an entire community and will be truly missed.
